PRODUCTION AREA
The vineyards, organically farmed, are located at approximately 420 meters a.s.l. in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti. They grow in complex soils composed of clay, sandstone, and galestro (a schist-based soil), where significant diurnal temperature variation creates ideal conditions for cultivating Sangiovese.
GRAPE VARIETIES
90% Sangiovese – 10% Merlot
TRAINING SYSTEM
Spurred cordon and simple guyot.
GRAPE SELECTION
An initial selection takes place at the end of July, during veraison, when about 30% of the grape load per plant is removed to improve airflow and promote optimal phenolic ripeness in the remaining grapes. Two further selections are made during harvest: one directly in the vineyard and one on the sorting table once the grapes arrive at the winery. Our meticulous approach to grape selection, along with the high average age of our vineyards, results in particularly low yields per hectare.
WINERY PHILOSOPHY
A Chianti Classico conceived as an ambassador of our extraordinary terroir and our centuries-old winemaking tradition.
Harvesting is carried out manually, and fermentation is conducted exclusively with native yeasts, accompanied by gentle daily pumping overs.
After aging for approximately 10 months in French oak barriques — neutral for Sangiovese and new for Merlot — the final blend was created.
In January 2025, the wine was bottled without any fining process, preserving its territorial identity and intrinsic character.
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS
The 2023 vintage was marked by a rainy spring, which made vineyard management particularly challenging, especially due to severe outbreaks of downy mildew, reducing yields by about 50%. Nevertheless, a hot and dry summer, interspersed with timely rainfall and the typical diurnal temperature swings of our vineyards, supported optimal ripening and grape health. This led to wines that are fragrant, vibrant, and impressively complex.

TASTING NOTES
Reflecting the characteristics of the vintage, the 2023 Chianti Classico offers a particularly complex bouquet, with pronounced notes of morello cherry, wild strawberry, and mulberry. On the palate, it is a wine of excellent structure, with a dense tannic texture and remarkable freshness, ensuring great aging potential and evolution over time.
